Dot Day!

September 15, 2023

  • LAFAYETTE’S DOT DAY is Friday, September 15!!!

What is Dot Day? The International Dot Day celebration was started by a teacher many years ago to celebrate the message of creativity, kindness and courage in Peter Reynold’s book “The Dot” and is now celebrated in 200 countries by almost 28 million people! For more info check out https://www.internationaldotday.org/

How will we celebrate at Lafayette? We will wear our dots to show we are all creative, kind, and brave enough to make our mark! We will begin our day by reading “The Dot” in our morning meetings and discussing the important messages, we will show our creativity throughout the day, and we will enjoy art activities, bubbles and sidewalk chalk on the playground at recess and interactive dot murals all day long in the hallways!

Thank you, parents, for encouraging your child to find (or make) an item of clothing with dots on it to wear Friday, Sept 15. It could be as simple as a T-shirt with a basketball, or some polka dot leggings or top, or a custom-made shirt if that’s how your family rolls! If your child forgets, no stress as we will be prepared with some dot stickers to help them catch the spirit!

WE NEED YOU to help us have a fantastic DOT DAY. E- mail  if you can help run an art activity or the bubble machine at recess for grades 1-5 (11:00- 1:00 grades 1-4, 1:10-2:10 Grade 5 and cleanup help).
