LSAT (Local School Advisory Team) Meeting Minutes – October 14, 2020
—Executive Summary—
-
- Introductions. All 14 members attended plus two members of the community. Introduced new LSAT Members – there are five.
- Reviewed the 2019-20 LSAT recommendations to the 2020-21 LSAT.
- Discussed LSAT Officer Elections for Secretaries and Co-Chairs. Agreement that parents and school staff should be represented in both positions.
- Discussed 2020-21 LSAT meeting schedule and importance of announcing meetings to community. Meetings will continue to occur monthly on Wednesday mornings at 7:30am.
- Re-opening plans. LSAT shared a list of questions for Dr. B to address – answers to these questions and a couple of others will be published online as easily accessible Re-opening FAQs. The school continues to work on staffing issues (for regular in-school classes and the CARES classrooms). Dr. B will minimize teacher/cohort changes which is a big concern for many parents. Dr. B recommends that the school and community continue to focus on improving distance learning. Finally, DCPS has given us the re-opening plan to implement with very latitude for modification/adaption to fit our specific needs – it is a district wide plan.
