Dear Lafayette Families –
We are wrapping up the month of September with some exciting events! Thank you to everyone who was able to join us Saturday evening for the outdoor movie night. It was a huge success. Thank you to the HSA co-chairs, Jill Bohnenkamp and Johanna Dubay for organizing such a lovely family event.
During the school day, the kids are hard at work in their classrooms, but also in the student clubs during flex time every afternoon (2:40 pm – 3:10 pm). Students are able to participate in the following Bear Clubs. These clubs include Choir, Show Choir, Band, SheReigns and King, ASL Club, Pride Club, Banana Splits, Cub Facts, Open Art and many more! Student Council elections are also under way. The posters are up, the candidates are crafting their speeches, and the vote is set for Oct. 3rd and 4th. There are 55 4th graders and 30 5th graders running for office. Watch out Capitol Hill….the future is here!
A few gentle reminders about drop off in the morning:
- Students should not arrive at school before 8:20 am. There is no adult supervision until 8:20 am.
- Do not stop on Broad Branch Rd. This is not an unloading zone.
- Do not use the parking lot for drop off.
Save the date for other fun events coming our way….
October 4th – Walk and Roll to School Day
October 6th – P/T Conferences
October 7th – No School, Teacher PD Day
October 10th – No School, Indigenous People’s Day
October 22nd – Fall Festival, 2 pm – 5 pm
Enjoy this beautiful last week of September and embrace all that comes with fall!
